Pete Hegseth

 Following graduation from Princeton in 2003, Hegseth joined Bear Stearns as an equity capital markets analyst . He was appointed an officer in the reserve of the U.S. Army National Guard. His unit was assigned to Guantanamo bay in 2004, where he was an infantry leader in the Minnesota National Guard. The unit was under the supervision of the 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment 101st Airborne Division. He received the Army Commendation Medal. Hegseth returned to Cuba within a short time after being awarded the Army Commendation Medal. He was a soldier in Baghdad, Samarra and held the post as an infantry platoon leader and, later, in Samarra as a civil-military operations officer. During his time in Iraq, he was given the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, and the second Army Commendation Medal. He returned to active duty in 2012, as Captain. He was sent to Afghanistan as part of the Minnesota Army National Guard and was an instructor of senior level at the Counterinsurgency Training Center in Kabul. Hegseth is a major, and currently a member of the Individual Ready Reserve. Two Bronze Stars have been given to him for his overseas service.
