Howie Long

 Long played football in college at Villanova University in Philadelphia, where he earned a communication degree. Long was a four-year Wildcats team captain and won the Blue-Gray Football Classic MVP award in the year 1980. Long was a freshman, and played in all games. He also recorded 99 tackles. In 1978, Long was a sophomore and commanded Villanova by securing five sacks. Also, he recorded 78 tackles. Long was injured in his thigh, and missed three games. He finished the season with 46 sacks. As a senior in 1980, Long again led the Wildcats with four sacks. He also scored 84 tackles. Long began his career as a tight end, but was quickly moved to the defensive end. He played mostly at nose guard for the first two seasons. Long was awarded All-East honors after moving to the defensive line and was named Honorable Mention All-American in his senior year. Long was also a Northern Collegiate Heavyweight Boxing Champion at Villanova.
