Casey Neistat

Neistat criticised the New York City Police Department for ticketing cyclists who travel out of the marked bike lanes. Neistat appears in a video called "Bike Lanes" and is fined $50 for riding outside of the marked bike lanes. Then, he bikes through the lane and hits many obstacles. This supports the argument that bike lanes may not be the safest and may be hazardous. New York Magazine called Neistat "Bike-Lane Vigilante", and the film was featured on all major media outlets. Time also ranked "Bike Lanes 8" on its Top 10 Creative Videos of 2011. In 2022 Neistat posted a video on YouTube called "NYC BIKE LANE BOUNTY" which discussed a proposal whereby New York City residents can declare cars illegally parking in bike lanes for some percentage of the offender's cost of the incident. Nesitat in the video's openingscene, crashes his bike into an illegally parked van and discloses statistics regarding NYC bicycle crashes.
