Alina Ilnazovna Zagitova (Russian: Alina Il'nazovna Zagitova, IPA: [a'ljin@ za'gjit@v@]; born 18 May 2002) is a Russian figure skater. The 2018 Olympic champion as well as the 2019 World champion, the 2018 European champion, the 2017-18 Grand Prix Final champion, and the 2018 Russian national champion. Zagitova also won silver in the team event at the 2018 Winter Olympics and was a part of the Olympic athletes from Russia team. [8] Zagitova is currently ranked 36th ladies' singles skater in the world by the International Skating Union. Zagitova is the only Russian female skater who has been awarded gold medals at both the Olympic Games and the World Figure Skating Championships. She also holds the European Figure Skating Championships title. She is the first Muslim athlete to have won the Olympic figure skating gold medal along with a world title as well as the Super Slam. She is the youngest and second ladies' singles skater, after Yuna Kim. She was the first to have won gold at all the major ISU championships, which include the Junior Grand Prix Series and Final, World Junior Championships, Grand Prix Series and Final, European Championships, World Championships, and Winter Olympic Games. She won the gold medal earlier in her career at the 2017 World Junior Championships as well at the 2016-17 Junior Grand Prix Final. She became the first female junior to reach the mark of 200 at the 2016-17 Junior Grand Prix Final. Zagitova broke the world record in both the old and new system.
