Alicia Amanda Vikander, /vI’kaend@r(listen) (listen) was born on 3 October 1988. She has been awarded numerous awards, including an Academy Award and nominations for three British Academy Film Awards and two Golden Globe Awards. Born and raised in Gothenburg, Vikander began acting as a kid in minor stage productions at the Gothenburg opera house. She then trained as a ballet dancer at the Royal Swedish Ballet in Stockholm. Her acting debut was in Swedish short films as well as television series. She first became famous for her performance in the drama show Andra Avenyn (2008-2010). Pure (2010) was her debut feature film. She won the Guldbagge Award as Best Actress. Kitty, Joe Wright's adaptation of Anna Karenina and Queen Caroline Mathilde was her role in A Royal Affair (2012). She was awarded a wider audience recognition. Vikander gained international notoriety for her performance in the film as Vera Brittain in Testament of Youth (2014) as well as the humanoid robot in Ex Machina (2014), for which she was nominated for the BAFTA Award for Best Actress in a Supporting Role as well as Gerda Wegener in The Danish Girl (2015) in which she was awarded the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. In the year 2016, Vikander was named by Forbes in its 30 Under 30 list. She also appeared in the action film Jason Bourne (2016) in the role of Lara Croft in the adventure film Tomb Raider (2018), as well as in the fantasy film The Green Knight (2021).
