Adele Mara

 Adele St. Mara was her official name. She received an endorsement from Columbia Pictures[citation needed[citation required.She also acquired experience in the company's comedy shorts, as well as "B" films. The name was later changed to Adele Mara. One of Mara's early roles was as a receptionist in the Three Stooges film I Can Hardly Wait. Mara and Leslie Brooks played the sisters of Rita Hayworth's character in the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. In Alias Boston Blackie (1942) she takes on the lead female role, as the daughter of an escaped and wrongfully charged prisoner. After her Columbia contract ended and she was transferred to Republic Pictures, where she was a regular in their westerns as well as outdoor adventure. She was a part of in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch with John Wayne, Angel In Exile (leading woman), Sands of Iwo Jima which portrayed John Agar's love interest is played by her, California Passage as well as Don Siegel's Count the Hours as a secondary part.
