Wiki

Wiki (/'wIki(listen, wIK-ee) (listen) (pronounced WIK-ee)), is an online hypertext journal that is managed and edited in collaboration with its users using the internet browser. Wiki software, often referred to as Wiki engines, is what can make a wiki work. It may include multiple pages that address the topic or the subject matter of the undertaking. Wiki engines are a kind of content management system. They are different from other web-based platforms like blogs in that there isn't a creator or leader to write the content. Wikis do not have an particular structure, and they can be modified as required by the users. Wiki engines permit the content to be created using an uncomplicated markup language and then edited with rich-text editors. There are a variety of Wiki engines that are available, both one-off or integrated with other programs such as bug trackers. While some wiki engines may be open-source and free however, others require an authorization. Certain allow control over various aspects (levels or access). Editing rights, for instance can allow users to edit, add or delete content. Others may permit access but not restrict access. To manage content, additional rules may be needed.
