Terry Gene Bollea[8][9](/b@'leI@/; born August 11, 1953), better known by his ring name Hulk Hogan, is an American retired professional wrestler. His reputation as being the best-known and popular wrestler of the 1980s is undisputed. He signed with the World Wrestling Federation in 1983, which has become WWE. His reputation as an all-American hero helped to launch the 1980s professional wrestling boom. He headlined eight of nine editions Wrestlemania's first nine seasons. During his initial run in the championship, he was crowned the WWF Championship five times, with his first reign being the longest in the championship's history. He was the first wrestler to win consecutive Royal Rumble matches. He was the winner in both 1990 and 1991. His match with Andre the Giant on WWF The Main Event on February 5, 1988 still holds American TV viewership records for wrestling, with the match securing a 15.2 ratings from Nielsen and 33 million viewers
