Craigslist was the place that Wolfhard found his first job as actor. In 2014, he made his television and acting debut as Zoran in the second season of the post-apocalyptic science television series The 100. In the following year, he was cast as Jordie Pinsky in the show Supernatural.In 2016 Wolfhard started playing Mike Wheeler in the Netflix show Stranger Things He auditioned for the role through video after being invited to participate in an open casting call. Wolfhard together with his fellow cast members, was awarded the SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in the Drama Series. 8 Wolfhard along with his co-stars Noah Schnapp and Gaten Matarazzo took part in a 2017 episode of Spike's Lip Sync Battle. Wolfhard also directed his first music video for the Spendtime Palace's track, "Sonora", with Josh Ovalle. Wolfhard was the lead role of Richie Tozier, in the 2017 adaptation of Stephen Kings' It. [ The casting of Wolfhard in both Stranger Things and It, both of which were set in the 1980s was a chance. Wolfhard claims that the role was initially conceived for Richie by Cary Fukunaga, who was also attached as co-director and co-writer. However, Fukunaga left the project because of differences in her creative vision. This gave Wolfhard to pursue Stranger Things. After Andy Muschietti became attached to It, Wolfhard had to be re-auditioned for the role of Richie. In October of 2017, Wolfhard parted ways with his former agency, APA and fired his the agent who had previously worked for him Tyler Grasham following allegations that Grasham was sexually assaulting aspiring young male actors. Wolfhard had never been sexually assaulted. Wolfhard was signed by CAA, a talent agency in January 2018. He played Tyler the altruistic and thoughtful pizza delivery boy, in the 2018 Ken Marino-directed ensemble comedy film, Dog Days.
