Angelina Jolie DCMG (/dZoU’li:/; born Angelina Jolie Voight, June 4, 1975), is an American actor and filmmaker. She has been awarded numerous accolades which include three Golden Globe Awards and an Academy Award. Her film career began to take off 10 years later, with Cyborg 2 (1993), her first role of significant importance in a major motion picture, Hackers (1995). She was the main character in the biographical cable film George Wallace (1997) and Gia (1998). In 1999, she received the Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for Girl, Interrupted. She was a star in Lara Croft, Tomb Raider (2001) in which she played the title character of the video game's hero. Her action-star career continued by appearing in Mr. & Mrs. Smith (2005), Wanted (2008), Salt (2010) as well as The Tourist (2010), and received acclaim from critics for her performance in the dramas A Mighty Heart (2007) and Changeling (2008) as well as the latter earned her a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Actress. Her biggest commercial successes include the fantasy movie Maleficent (2014) and its 2019 sequel, and the action film Eternals (2021). Jolie has been a voice role in the animation film series Kung Fu Panda since 2008. Jolie also directed and wrote the war dramas In the Land of Blood and Honey (2011) and Unbroken (2014).
