She came across a photographer from the First Motion Picture Unit. This led to a short-lived career as a pin-up model. In the late 1950s, after some minor roles in films she signed an agreement with Fox. In the following two years, she was popular as an actress, with roles in numerous comedies, such as As Young as You Feel and Monkey Business, and in the dramas Clash by Night and Don't Bother to Knock. While she was a victim of scandal after it was revealed that she had taken naked photographs prior to becoming a famous however, it did not affect her career. Instead, it led to increased interest in her films.
