Alexandra Elizabeth Sheedy, a New York City native, was born on June 13 1962. She has two siblings brothers: Patrick and sister Meghan. Her mother, Charlotte (nee Baum), is a writer and press agent who was active in the civil rights and women's movements. Her father, John J. Sheedy Jr., is a Manhattan advertising executive. Her mother, who is Eastern European Jewish, is her father, who is of Irish Catholic heritage. Her maternal grandmother is from Odessa in Ukraine. Her parents divorced in 1971. She was a student at the Bank Street School for Children as well as the Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School in New York City. She graduated in the year 1980. When she was six, she began dancing with American Ballet Theatre [9]. She was determined to make it a full-time job. She resigned from dance for acting full-time, however, and then started studying acting with an acting instructor Harold Guskin. At age 12 she wrote a book, She Was Nice to Mice. McGraw-Hill Education published the book and it became a bestseller. LinkShe made her first appearance on the show To Tell the Truth, June 19, 1975. When she turned 18, Sheedy relocated to Los Angeles, California, where she joined the department of drama at the University of Southern California. Sheedy started her acting career, and also completed three years' worth of classes towards an BFA degree in acting.
